Samsung Galaxy S23 Deals

Each February, Samsung introduces its next Galaxy S series. This year, three models were unveiled; the S23 Ultra, S23+, and S23. While the S23 Ultra and S23+ models have the best features and capabilities, they’re also the most expensive. If you’re less concerned about getting the latest and greatest but want a new, top-of-the-line device from Samsung, the base S23 is a great option. With more than 7% of people shopping for the S23 last week alone, there are plenty of great deals available for you, and we can help you find them! Read on to find out more.

Galaxy S23 Deals: How to Find The Best One for You

While a retail price of $799.99, if you’re willing to trade in an older device, chances are slim that you’ll have to pay close to the sticker price on the S23. However, there’s plenty of “fine print” to untangle before you can see just how much you’re likely to spend, so let’s cover the basics before getting into what kinds of deals you might qualify for.

Are you willing to trade in your current smartphone?

In general, carriers tend to offer the most appealing deals if you're willing to exchange your existing smartphone. The value of the deal the carrier offers is typically proportional to the age of your trade-in device. This is comparable to purchasing a new car, where a discount is offered when trading in an older vehicle. The same logic applies to wireless carriers. For instance, if you have a Galaxy S21 Ultra to trade in, you may qualify for the best deals on the Galaxy S23, whereas if you have a Galaxy S7, the deals you qualify for may be less enticing.

What carrier do you have now, and are you willing to switch carriers?

Typically, AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile provide their most attractive Galaxy S23 offers to individuals open to switching to their service. Being a new customer holds more potential value for a carrier than being an existing one. This is why carriers usually offer a better deal on the Galaxy S23 if you're willing to switch to their service.

Are you willing to stay with your carrier (new or old) for at least 24 or 36 months?

To offer their most attractive deals on the Galaxy S23, carriers usually require that you remain a customer for a specific duration, ranging from 24 to 36 months. If, for instance, you receive an $800 discount for trading in your old iPhone 12, the carrier will not pay you the entire amount upfront. Instead, they divide the discount over the 24 to 36-month period, effectively creating a contract.

For example, if you bought the Galaxy S23 for $799.99 at T-Mobile and T-Mobile offered you a $400 credit on your Galaxy S21 as a trade-in, then you would be charged $400 spread over 24 months. or $16.67 per month. You would also be charged for your monthly service plan, which can range from $65 to $90 depending on the plan you select (if you have more than one line on the account, this monthly charge is typically much lower). If you decide to leave T-Mobile before your new phone is fully paid off, you have to pay back the remaining balance out-of-pocket.

Are you willing to purchase a more expensive monthly service plan?

Lastly, many carriers offer their most attractive deals to customers willing to purchase a more expensive monthly service plan (or who may already be subscribed to one). Typically, upgrading from a "cheaper plan" to a "premium plan" costs around $10 monthly. So, if a carrier offers you a $500 discount on the Galaxy S23 over 36 months but requires you to purchase a premium plan, your discount on your new Galaxy would be closer to $140 rather than $500.

Although the process can be overwhelming and confusing, knowing how it works can score you a fantastic deal on the phone you want. Surprisingly, there may be up to 10,000 distinct deals available on the Galaxy S23, incorporating all the factors we discussed earlier. With such a vast range of choices and possible combinations, it can be challenging to determine which deal is most suitable for your needs.

Galaxy S23 Deal Summary

Below, you’ll see the most recent trade-in promotions for the Galaxy S range. More importantly, you can see just how much you can potentially save if you trade in even a Galaxy S7, which came out back in 2016. For example, if you were to trade a Galaxy S7 for the new Galaxy S23, you would only be given between $100 and $400 in credit if you want to purchase through Verizon. AT&T pioneered an "Any Galaxy, Any Year" trade-in program for Samsung devices in 2022, so occasionally you can get up to $800 when purchasing an S23+ through AT&T and trading in any Galaxy S or Note device back to the original. Check on this offer before you transact, as it isn't always running. Generally there is a wide range of discounts available depending on your trade-in device, whether you're willing to switch carriers, and whether you want to pay for a premium service plan.

There are also plenty of deals out there if you’re looking to make the switch from iOS to Android. iPhone devices will still get a significant discount from the iPhone 8 series released in 2017. With a minimum trade-in value of $200, you’re still looking at a significant chunk taken off the retail price of the Galaxy S23. Moreover, if you want to switch carriers to get your new Galaxy, T-Mobile will give you the S23 for free if you switch to them and sign up for their Go5G Plus plan.

What Are the Samsung Galaxy S23 Specs?

The Samsung Galaxy S23 has many important specs, making it a top choice for Android phone fanatics.

For starters, the standard phone is 6.21 x 3 x 0.3”, with a weight of 6.91 ounces or 196 g. With a glass front and back, both boasting Gorilla Glass Victus 2, it’s sure to be a durable phone through and through, in part thanks to its aluminum frame. On top of that, it's IP68 dust and water-resistant down to 1.5 m for 30 minutes.

The Galaxy S23's screen is also worth noting. This always-on display is 6.6 inches in size. It's an AMOLED 2X display, capable of refreshing at 120 Hz. This screen is bright and vibrant, producing top-tier images and moving pictures for games and videos alike.

That’s not all the Samsung Galaxy S23 brings to the table, either. The phone runs on Android 13 with the One UI 1.5 interface. Everything is powered with a robust SM8550-AC Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 qualcomm chipset, plus an octa-core processor, as Samsung has abandoned their own Exynos chips. That produces 8 GB of RAM for gaming, streaming, and downloading alike.

As far as storage goes, Samsung fans will find a lot to like. The phone has an internal storage capacity of 256 GB, but you can get a storage upgrade of 512 GB for a slightly higher price. That should be plenty for photos and videos (as well as some of the most popular apps on the Android OS).

What about cameras? Once again, the Galaxy S23 doesn't disappoint, featuring a triple set of main cameras. The primary camera set can produce 50, 10, and 12-megapixel cameras, respectively, and they feature 3x optical zoom and super steady video functionality. Telephoto lenses, low-light camera quality, and ultrawide camera functions combine with LED flash and auto-HDR to round out the abilities of these cameras.

Those same perks are found on the selfie camera, which is 12mp Ultrawide and has dual video call functionality. The selfie camera can record 4K video at 30 or 60 FPS or 1080P video at 30 FPS, while the front camera set can record video in a wide range of settings, ranging from 8K at 24 or 30 FPS to 1080 P at 960 FPS.

The Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus offers a range of other quality features and perks, as well. These include an under-display and ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, an accelerometer, a compass, and a barometer. Of course, you can also take advantage of Samsung Pay with this mobile device.

At release, the Galaxy S23+ was available in a variety of exclusive colors ranging from phantom black to cream to green to lavender to graphite to lime. Think of the Galaxy S23+ as an all-around upgrade to the standard Galaxy S23, the flagship Samsung phone after the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S21 series.

What Are Some Pros and Cons of the Samsung Galaxy S23?

If you’re still uncertain which Samsung Galaxy S23 you should purchase, consider these pros and cons of the Galaxy S23 before deciding.

At its core, the Galaxy S23 is the base model of the S23 Plus and S23 Ultra models. As a result, it has the same rear camera setup, the same storage options, and the same RAM as the base models of both of its contemporaries. Of course, it has all the basic amenities we’ve come to expect from a new Galaxy phone, from the basics such as BlueTooth and WiFi connectivity to the newer benchmarks like wireless charging.

However, the Galaxy S23 has a slightly smaller AMOLED screen compared to the standard Galaxy S23+. It also has a slightly lower battery, clocking in at 3900 mAh compared to 4700. It even features a fast charging speed relative to many other mobile devices, capable of receiving power from 45 W charging cables.

It’s a little heavier than many other mobile devices, but not to the point of discomfort. The Samsung Galaxy S23 should feel fairly comfortable in your hands no matter which type of phone you are used to handling.

The Galaxy S23 is also $200 more affordable than the S23+, but for that extra $200, you get a larger screen and better charging capabilities.

What Is the Galaxy S23 Release Date and Price?

The base Samsung Galaxy S23 came out on February 17, 2023. Still, if you want to get your hands on this phone, you’ll have to pony up a significant amount of money. The base version of the Galaxy S23, with 128 GB of internal storage, was $799 at release.

Bottom Line

The Samsung Galaxy S23 is a great device if you’re looking for power, performance, and flexibility.
