Trying to decide between signing up with Mint Mobile or Visible?
The two carriers have a lot in common—both are prepaid carriers, both are owned by major carriers (Mint Mobile is owned by T-Mobile, while Visible is owned by Verizon), both offer low-priced plans, and both lack the extensive perks of their major carrier overlords.
They also differ in some key ways. Namely, they structure their plans differently—Mint’s are only available in 3,6, and 12 month increments, while Visible’s are available as standard monthly arrangements, or via upfront payment for a year of service. Also, Visible’s advertised plan prices include all taxes and fees, while Mint Mobile’s do not.
There’s a lot more to discuss when it comes to Mint Mobile vs. Visible, and we’ll do that in the following article, including highlighting each carrier’s best plans.
| Plan | Monthly Price (1 month) | Price (3 Months) | Price (6 Months) | Price (12 Months) | Premium Cellular Data |

| Visible | $25/month | - | - | $23 | Unlimited deprioritized |

Mint Mobile’s sole unlimited data plan, the aptly named Unlimited, delivers 50GB of unlimited premium data (though you may experience slower speeds during times of congestion on the T-Mobile network—more on that later). It also features a dedicated 20GB high-speed mobile hotspot data allowance that doesn’t come out of your primary cellular data. Mint Mobile’s Unlimited plan costs $30/month when you prepay for 3 months, and costs the same when you prepay for 12.

Visible’s stable of plans, meanwhile, are made up entirely of unlimited data options. The carrier’s base Visible plan is the cheapest of its already-inexpensive offerings, coming in at $25/month when you pay monthly, or $23/month when you pay annually. It features unlimited deprioritized data, unlimited mobile hotspot data at very slow 5 Mbps speeds, and unlimited talk and text to (but not in) Mexico and Canada. All of which is to say, the Visible plan is much more pared back feature-wise than the other two plans we’ve discussed so far—but it’s also very cheap.
Visible+ is the carrier's enhanced unlimited data plan. It's priced at $35/month ($32/month if you prepay for 12 months), and includes unlimited premium 4G and 5G cellular data free of deprioritization. It also features unlimited mobile hotspot data, albeit at rather slow 10 Mbps speeds; unlimited talk, text, and data while roaming in Mexico and Canada; and one Global Pass a month, which allows you to use your plan while abroad in 140 different countries.
Visible+ Pro offers the same core features included in the Visible+ plan—unlimited premium 4G and 5G data, unlimited talk, text, and data in Mexico and Canada—but ups the ante when it comes to mobile hotspot data speeds (15 Mbps instead of 10 Mbps), video quality (4K instead of 1080p), and Global Pass days (two a month instead of just one). Plus, you get calling to 85+ countries, and unlimited texting to 200+.

Are you someone who stays connected to WiFi most of the time, thereby eliminating the need for unlimited data?
While you won’t find capped data plan options from Visible, Mint Mobile has three of them: a 6GB monthly plan, a 17GB plan, and a 23GB plan.
While all three are appealingly inexpensive, we recommend simply springing a few extra bucks for the carrier’s Unlimited plan. It’s negligibly more expensive than the capped data plans, and greatly reduces the need to worry about hitting data limits.
Mint Mobile operates service aboard the T-Mobile’s formidable national network. That means that Mint customers can tap into the same 4G and 5G coverage that regular T-Mobile customers use.
By the numbers, T-Mobile offers the most 5G network coverage, and pretty good 4G LTE coverage, nationally. Check out the coverage map (sourced from FCC data) below to see what kind of service you can expect from Mint Mobile:
Visible relies entirely on parent company Verizon’s network, giving it one of the most comprehensive coverage footprints in the U.S. This includes access to Verizon’s high-speed Ultra Wideband (UW) 5G in select areas.
Visible’s 4G LTE coverage is identical to Verizon’s, spreading across 56% of the country. This means customers can expect reliable service in most urban, suburban, and rural areas, with the exception of some extremely remote or mountainous regions where service may be weaker.
Visible customers also get access to Verizon’s 5G network at no extra cost. Rest assured that many of the country’s cities and suburbs are well covered by Verizon 5G. Check out the FCC-backed coverage map below to verify coverage in your specific area:
In a broad sense, Mint Mobile and Visible fulfill the needs of the same corner of the market: users who are looking for quality service at a low price. And with the backing of major networks (Verizon for Visible, T-Mobile for Mint Mobile), would-be subscribers can sign up for either service knowing that there is the infrastructure of a larger company behind them.
However, the differences in their plan lineups and pricing structures make Mint Mobile and Visible two slightly different propositions. Simply put, Mint Mobile is good for users for a proclivity for set-it-and-forget-it cell phone service—prepay for your service ahead of time in a 3, 6, or 12 month increment, and you’re set.
Visible, by contrast, offers a bit more flexibility when it comes to payment—namely, monthly options. Users who opt to pay for service in this way (as opposed to the carrier’s 12-month prepayment option) get the flexibility of switching carriers if they’re not happy with their service at the end of a given month.
There's also the unlimited plan distinction: Mint Mobile only offers one unlimited plan, and its premium data is limited to 50GB. Visible, by contrast offers three different unlimited data plan options, and the two more expensive ones—Visible+ and Visible+ Pro—include truly unlimited premium data, with no threshold. This makes Visible a more suitable carrier for those seeking a more comprehensive unlimited plan.
Mint Mobile and Visible both give you major-network coverage for a fraction of what the big carriers charge. Which one fits you depends on how much data you use and how you like to pay.
Choose Mint Mobile if you use little data, mostly stay on WiFi, and don't mind paying for several months up front. Mint's capped plans start at $15/month, and nothing Visible offers is that cheap. Its Unlimited plan is also a good deal at $30/month with a separate 20GB hotspot allowance. Keep in mind that Mint's prices don't include taxes and fees. Once those are added, the gap between Mint and Visible is wider than the sticker prices suggest.
Choose Visible if you want to pay month to month, want the price you see to be the price you pay, or need data that doesn't slow down. The base Visible plan is $25/month with taxes and fees included, which makes it one of the easiest unlimited plans to budget for. Visible+ and Visible+ Pro go further. Both include unlimited premium data with no cap, plus roaming in Mexico and Canada and Global Pass days. Mint's single Unlimited plan can't match that.
In short, Mint Mobile is the better pick for light users who want the lowest possible bill and are happy to prepay. Visible is the better pick for heavy data users and anyone who wants monthly flexibility with no surprise fees.
It depends on how you use data. Mint Mobile's capped plans start as low as $15 a month (on a 3-month prepay), while Visible's cheapest unlimited plan runs $25 a month — but remember, that Visible price already includes taxes and fees, while Mint's advertised prices don't.
Visible has the edge here, since it rides on Verizon's network, one of the most extensive in the country. Mint Mobile runs on T-Mobile, which leads the pack on 5G coverage specifically, so the "better" network really comes down to which carrier's parent has stronger service where you actually live.
Only with the pricier tiers of either carrier. Mint Mobile's Unlimited plan caps premium data at 50GB before slowing down, while Visible's top two plans, Visible+ and Visible+ Pro, offer completely unlimited premium data with no threshold at all.
