As one of the nation’s largest cell phone carriers, T-Mobile not only sells postpaid plans, but prepaid plans as well. These plans allow you to access T-Mobile’s fast and reliable system of 4G and 5G networks—and avoid an upfront credit check.
T-Mobile’s prepaid offerings include their 5GB, 10GB, Unlimited, Unlimited Promo, and Unlimited Plus plans. The only differences between capped and unlimited prepaid plans are hotspot data speeds and access to international calls and messaging.
In this article, we’ll discuss our favorite overall, family, budget-conscious, and senior-based T-Mobile prepaid plans. Continue reading to learn about the best T-Mobile prepaid plans on the market right now.

Of all of T-Mobile’s prepaid plans, our choice for the best overall is the Unlimited Plus plan. While it’s the carrier’s most expensive prepaid option, this $60/month plan includes unlimited 5G data and 10GB of mobile hotspot data. T-Mobile's other unlimited prepaid plans are similar but offer slower speeds or a smaller cap for hotspot data.
T-Mobile’s prepaid plans lack the same perks as its postpaid plans, so there’s no 4K video streaming, Netflix with Ads, Apple TV+, Hulu with Ads, or access to its upcoming satellite service. However, you do get to enjoy some benefits, such as:
Although this plan offers unlimited data, it’s worth noting that if you exceed 50GB in a month, speeds may slow down when the network is congested.
T-Mobile has two affordable prepaid options: the $40/month 10GB plan, and the $50/month Unlimited plan. Out of the two, we recommend the Unlimited plan. While both plans include unlimited talk and text, the Unlimited plan provides more data per month and unlimited 3G mobile hotspot speeds. Note: while 3G hotspot speeds may be serviceable for simple tasks like writing emails, loading webpages, it can result in hang ups when you try to stream video or do video calls. If you prefer faster hotspot speeds, we recommend signing up for Unlimited Plus.
T-Mobile’s 10GB data option for $40/month is the cheaper solution, but the 10GB of data plan is pooled with mobile hotspot data, which can consume data quickly and get reduced to 128 kbps after surpassing the monthly data cap.
Signing up for multiple prepaid lines can help reduce costs while enjoying unlimited data benefits. Whether you’re a family of two or four, we think the best option for families is also T-Mobile’s Unlimited plan. This plan offers unlimited talk, text, data, and mobile hotspot at 3G speeds (see comments above for our thoughts on 3G hotspot speeds).
The plan costs $50/month, but thanks to multi-line discounts, it becomes more affordable per line. Signing up for two lines reduces the price to $40/month, three lines to $37/month, and four lines to $35/month.
T-Mobile offers a prepaid option through its Connect by T-Mobile brand for people 55 and up. The entry-level plan offers the basics at the same speeds as its other plans, including unlimited talk and text with 5GB of 5G data for $15/month, and two lines will cost $30/month. The Connect brand also has a $25/month 8GB plan and a $35/month 12GB plan.
Connect users can still enjoy benefits like Wi-Fi calling and scam-blocking protection, but it doesn’t include the T-Mobile Tuesday perks and discount program. If older adults have technology questions, T-Mobile has a customer service team, chat, and in-store support available.
T-Mobile’s prepaid plans offer a solid mix of value, flexibility, and network reliability—without the hassle of a credit check. Whether you're looking for a plan with unlimited data, a budget-friendly option, a family-friendly deal, or a straightforward plan for seniors, T-Mobile has something to suit your needs. While these prepaid plans don’t come with all the extras found in postpaid offerings, they still deliver essential features like nationwide 5G access, mobile hotspot data, and reliable customer support. No matter your budget or lifestyle, T-Mobile’s prepaid options provide a competitive and accessible way to stay connected.
Simply download the T-Mobile T-Life app to view your balance, along with your current plan, manage add-ons, and access your full account on the T-Mobile site. You can also visit T-Mobile’s prepaid site, select My T-Mobile, log in or sign up, and select the desired line to view your balance. Alternatively, dialing #999# within your phone app to display your current account balance on your phone’s display.
There are several ways to pay or refill a T-Mobile prepaid bill. The simplest option will be via the T-Mobile T-Life app, where you can use a credit or debit card to refill your balance, either as a recurring monthly AutoPay or as a one-time payment. If you prefer to buy a T-Mobile refill card, you can add the amount to your account using the T-Mobile app. The methods mentioned above apply to the T-Mobile prepaid site as well. There’s also an in-person option at your local T-Mobile retailer, but a $5 payment support charge will come with it.
T-Mobile does offer a prepaid option for international calls and texting with the $55/month Unlimited Promo plan. This plan adds talk and text to Mexico and Canada from within the U.S. and texting to over 215 countries. This feature is in addition to unlimited talk, text, and mobile hotspot at 3G speeds within the U.S.
