Xfinity Mobile makes use of Verizon's coverage network to provide service to its customers. That means wherever there's Verizon coverage, there's Xfinity Mobile coverage. That's good news for Xfinity Mobile subscribers, since Verizon wields some of the fastest and most reliable 4G and 5G coverage around. Take a look at Verizon's—er, Xfinity Mobile's—national coverage below.
One caveat: Verizon tends to prioritize its own subscribers during times of network congestion; if it’s especially busy, Xfinity Mobile customers may experience slightly slower speeds than Verizon customers.
One look at the map above shows just how wide-reaching this Xfinity Mobile's 4G network is. Aside from a few isolated dead zones in the Western part of the country, a Xfinity Mobile 4G signal can be found just about everywhere. This isn't surprising, since the Verizon 4G network upon which Xfinity operates is the second-best in the whole country, covering 56% of the country.
Verizon's 5G network is more limited in scope than its 4G network, which in turns translates to a more limited Xfinity Mobile 5G network. While you’ll easily find a 5G signal throughout the East Coast, California, and upper Midwest, you may have more difficulty connecting to it in the Mountain West, Southwest, and Northwest.
Fortunately, a good portion of Xfinity Mobile’s 5G network is made up of Verizon's Ultra Wideband 5G, which offers faster speeds, lower latency, and better reliability than standard 5G. Since Verizon is aggressively expanding its 5G reach—particularly its Ultra Wideband 5G network—Xfinity Mobile customers can expect better 5G coverage in the coming months and years.
Here’s how Xfinity Mobile's 5G network breakd down in terms of signal types:
Xfinity Mobile is one of the many ISPs that have moved into mobile service—Spectrum Mobile, Cox Mobile, and Optimum Mobile are some of the others.
All of these carriers make use of major carrier networks to provide service to their customers. Spectrum Mobile and Cox Mobile, like Xfinity Mobile, use Verizon's national 4G and 5G networks. Optimum Mobile, meanwhile uses T-Mobile's network.
The chart below gives you a sense of how Verizon’s network stacks up against the other major U.S. networks.

Simply put, Verizon offers the second-best 4G coverage, and the third-best 5G coverage, in the country.
Xfinity Mobile, available exclusively to Xfinity Internet customers, offers flexible and competitively priced mobile plans with nationwide 5G coverage. Xfinity Mobile's use of Verizon's network means you can sign up with the carrier with the knowledge you'll be getting some of the best coverage around. After all, Verizon's 4G is the second-most wide-reaching in the country, and its 5G network is the third-best. Granted, as a customer on a subcarrier, your data may deprioritized in times of network congestion. However, this should be a relatively infrequent occurrence, and the amount you can save via Xfinity Mobile's plans may be more than worth the trade-off.
Xfinity Mobile uses Verizon’s cell towers.
Since it uses Verizon’s network, Xfinity Mobile has great 4G LTE service and pretty widespread 5G coverage.
Xfinity sells Apple iPhones, Google Pixels, Samsung Galaxy phones, Motorola phones, and more, with frequent deals. You can also bring your own phone and change the SIM card. Xfinity Mobile offers a free SIM card to anyone who brings their own device (BYOD).
