Verizon Phone Trade-In Deals Worth Knowing About

a group of people looking at cell phones in a store

Smartphones are an indispensable part of everyday life, but they can also get costly. Unless you are willing to skimp on quality features, you will likely be spending $500 at the very minimum to pick up a new phone.

Many companies and carriers will put together deals that allow you to get the phones at discounted prices to keep the smartphone industry sustainable.

One of the primary ways Verizon (similar to the other big carriers, AT&T and T-Mobile) does this is through its trade-in program. This allows existing and new customers to trade in their old devices for an upgrade, monthly bill credit, or another promo deal.

If you're curious about exploring the different Verizon plans and comparing them with options from across the market, our Plan Finder is here to help! In seconds we'll find and compare cell phone plans that fit your unique needs.

How Does the Trade-In Program Work?

Verizon customers can begin the trade-in process by signing into My Verizon or going to the website trade-in page. From there, you can complete the following steps:

  1. Choose a device that you want to trade in.
  2. Answer the questions about the phone’s condition so the company can determine its eligibility. After this process, Verizon will determine the phone’s tentative value.
  3. Use the device ID to perform a trade-in. The My Devices page on My Verizon has your device ID listed. You can check for the ID in your phone settings if you are not a Verizon customer.
  4. Choose a payout method and return method.
  5. Accept the terms and conditions.
  6. Click “complete trade-in.”
  7. Once you do this, you will receive an email explaining how to ship or bring the device you are trading in.
  8. Follow the instructions to complete the return process, and they will send your new phone to you.

Overall, the trade-in process is mostly the same here as with any other carrier that offers a similar program.

However, Verizon often offers extra trade-in incentives for people who do certain things, such as upgrading to a new plan or switching from a competing carrier. If you play your cards right, you can get a better phone than your current trade-in value.

Verizon currently has deals for every significant cellphone manufacturer in the U.S. Here are some of the best options.

What Are Some Verizon Trade-In Deals?

Verizon has trade-in deals for all the best Google, Apple, and Samsung phones on the market.

While these phones are all very different in both function and cost, you can find ways to reduce the prices significantly through Verizon.

iPhone on Us

Most trade-in deals involve reducing the price of the phone itself, so this Verizon iPhone deal, which adds in a whole new incentive, is a different take on the process. This is an online-only plan, so you need to get in on this deal remotely if you want to take advantage of it.

The iPhone 15 is currently one of Apple’s most advanced phones, with a fantastic suite of cameras, better battery, improved performance, and a few other modifications to the iPhone 14 series.

Note that Verizon is offering an even more tempting offer for Apple fans: An iPhone 15 Pro, Apple Watch SE and an iPad, all "on Verizon." However, to access this deal, you'll need to trade in an iPhone and subscribe to Verizon's most premium data plan, Unlimited Ultimate. A service plan is also required for your new iPad and Apple Watch.

The phone has a fantastic processor and a great set of cameras, not to mention the exciting AI developments, but its price can deter many people from purchasing.

Luckily, through this Verizon deal, you can pick up a "free" Samsung S24, so long as you trade in an old phone free of battery damage and either add a line, or upgrade to a new 5G unlimited plan.

What Are Some Non-Trade-In Deals?

Verizon also has a few solid deals that do not involve the trade-in credit but still allow you to get more, including the following:

AirPod BOGO 50% deal

For users who constantly misplace their AirPods, or who just want a backup set, when you buy your AirPods from Verizon, you ca get the second pair half-off.

While phones are only getting increasingly expensive, these deals offer consumers the ability to get their hands on the best when it comes to modern technology without draining their wallets.
