Cox Mobile, available exclusively to Cox Internet customers, keeps things simple by offering just two plans—a pay-by-the-gig plan, and an unlimited data plan. Both run on Verizon’s reliable 4G LTE and 5G networks and include unlimited talk and text with no contracts.
In this article, we'll explain what type of users these two respective plans are ideally suited for, as well as provide some wider context about what you can expect as a Cox Mobile customer.

Since Cox Mobile is only available to Cox Internet customers, the service is for, first and foremost, current Cox subscribers.
Beyond that, though, Cox Mobile is priced and designed for consumers who feel turned off by the complication and expense of major carrier cell phone service. Cox Mobile offers a straightforward selection of two plans, instead of the larger variety of somewhat confusing options offered by the likes of Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile. What's more, Cox Mobile's plans cost a fraction of the price of standard major carrier offerings.

Like its competitor Spectrum Mobile, Cox Mobile makes use of Verizon’s national system of network for coverage. Verizon’s coverage is excellent in both rural and urban areas, thanks to a combination of powerful 4G and 5G towers. Check out Cox Mobile's (via Verizon's) coverage map below, to ensure service in the places you spend time:
There’s one caveat to be aware of, however: Verizon tends to prioritize its own subscribers during times of network congestion; if it’s especially busy, Cox Mobile customers may experience slightly slower speeds than Verizon customers.
While Cox Mobile is particularly well-suited to customers who bring their own phones to the network, the carrier does offer a tidy selection of devices sale as well. This includes the latest iPhone 17 series.
Prefer to bring your own device (BYOD) to Cox Mobile? It’s easy to check your compatibility online via the carrier’s online tool, and fast to activate service if you have eSIM functionality in your phone (as most recent models do).
Cox Mobile benefits from the broader infrastructure of the Cox Communications brand, allowing it to offer more robust and accessible customer service options than many smaller MVNOs. Subscribers can get help not only through Cox Mobile’s dedicated phone support and online chat but also at Cox retail stores, where trained staff can assist with billing, plan changes, and technical issues in person. Customers can also manage their accounts or request assistance through the Cox website or mobile app, creating a seamless support experience that combines the reach of a national provider with the flexibility of a modern mobile service.
Cox Mobile is one of several upstart ISP mobile carriers on the market that offer cheap cell phone service that can bebundled with internet. Cox Mobile’s use of Verizon’s excellent network makes it an attractive option if you’re looking for great coverage at a cheap price.
Cox Mobile offers two plans: Pay As You Gig, which charges around $15 per GB of data used, and Gig Unlimited, a $45 monthly plan that includes 20 GB of premium data before speeds slow down. The best plan depends on your usage. Light users who use under a couple of gigabytes each month may save more with Pay As You Gig, while heavier users will likely find better value in the Unlimited plan despite speed reductions after 20 GB.
Yes. Cox Mobile is only available to customers who have Cox Internet service. If you don’t have an active Cox Internet subscription, you won’t be eligible to sign up for Cox Mobile.
After you reach 20 GB of high-speed data in a billing cycle, Cox Mobile slows your speeds to roughly 1.5 Mbps down and 750 Kbps up for the rest of the month. There are no overage fees—just reduced speeds until your next billing cycle begins.
Cox also offers the Pay as You Gig plan, which allows you to identify how much data you want to pay for, and use, each month. Each GB costs $15.
This plan is suited to users who don't consume a lot of data, and tend to stay connected to WiFi most of the time. It starts getting expensive as you add GBs, so we recommend avoiding this plan if you're anything but the lightest of data user.
The best Cox Mobile plan is Gig Unlimited. It comes with 20GB of high-speed cellular data to use each month, paired with unlimited talk and text. It includes mobile hotspot functionality, but that hotspot data comes directly out of your 20GB monthly cellular bucket.
Gig Unlimited is made for the typical smartphone user who consumes a lot of data in their day-to-day (browsing, streaming) and is on WiFi some of the time.
