Like its competitors Verizon and T-Mobile, AT&T offers discounts on its cell phone plans when you add lines—even just two lines.
But that's not the only reason to consider going with AT&T for your two-line plan: the carrier also wields the best combined 4G and 5G coverage in the country, and offers a range of feature-packed plans with which to enjoy it.
In this article, we’ve outlined the best AT&T plans for two lines, whether you're looking for something premium, something affordable, or something in the middle.
Why You Should Trust Us
I have over 10 years of experience writing about and reviewing mobile plans and phones. I’ve tried every carrier under the sun—and have some strong opinions about which ones are worth signing up for, and which you should steer clear of.
For this article, I focused on the following factors as it relates to service with AT&T:
- Overall value
- Plan features
- Cell phone coverage
- Quality of customer service
The following piece offers an honest look at how well AT&T fares in each of these areas.

Signing up with AT&T means you get all of the benefits of a major carrier, including reliable customer service (with actual brick and mortar stores), a wide selection of phones, and excellent nationwide coverage.
Ranking AT&T Plans By Popularity
Curious about which AT&T plans people are most apt to sign up for? Here’s a breakdown of all of AT&T plans by popularity.
Unlimited Premium PL: 26.2%
Unlimited Extra EL: 25.8%
Unlimited Starter SL: 17.5%
Value Plus VL: 16%
4 GB: 14.5%
Based on this, it seems to popularity of each of AT&T’s plans corresponds to how much data it includes. To wit, Unlimited Premium PL includes unlimited high-speed data, Unlimited Extra EL features 75GB, Unlimited Starter offers unlimited deprioritized data, and so on.
AT&T delivers some of the best coverage in all of the country, blanketing nearly the entirety of it with 4G and 5G service.
AT&T’s 4G LTE is the most wide-reaching in the country, outdoing the likes of Verizon and T-Mobile. The company’s 5G network, meanwhile, covers just a tiny bit less of the country than T-Mobile’s (the industry leader).
Check out AT&T’s network in the map below, and use the buttons on top to switch between 4G and 5G coverage:
As frustrating as some of the phone hold times can be, you can generally get in touch with AT&T representatives nearly any time of the day—which is something many prepaid carriers don’t offer.
What’s more, AT&T stores are all over the place, so you probably aren’t far from one if you prefer in-person assistance.
One of the biggest upsides of going with a major carrier is the wide selection of phones. AT&T stocks flagship and mid-range models from the likes of Samsung, Apple, Google, and Motorola—and frequently runs promotions that allow you to get them at discount prices.
This makes AT&T a great option if you not only need plans but devices for your entire family. Some of AT&T’s recent promotions have included deals on the iPhone 17, the Samsung Galaxy S25, and the Google Pixel 10.
If you’re shopping for the best 2-line cell phone plans in 2026, both T-Mobile and AT&T deliver standout options—just in different ways. T-Mobile continues to lead with perks, simplicity, and unmatched 5G reach, while AT&T shines with strong nationwide coverage, generous data allotments, and flexible plan tiers to match any budget. Whether you prioritize top-tier performance or everyday value, you’ll find that both carriers offer reliable choices that make staying connected with a partner, friend, or family member easier—and more affordable—than ever.

When you add a second line, AT&T applies multi-line pricing so the per-line cost drops compared to a single line.
Yes, AT&T’s Unlimited Your Way option lets you choose different plan tiers for each line on the same account.
Yes, AT&T offers a 55+ unlimited plan where eligible customers can get two lines at a lower monthly rate per line.
Looking to keep your 2-line cell phone plan costs down? AT&T’s appropriately-named Value Plus VL is the way to go, since it's the cheapest of the carrier's unlimited plans.
Value Plus VL is admittedly a bit more pared-back features-wise than the other selections on this list: all of the plan's cellular data is subject to deprioritization at any time, and it doesn't include dedicated mobile hotspot data.
However, Value Plus VL does include Mexico and Canada privileges, and access to AT&T’s powerful 5G network. Better still, the plan costs just $50.99/month for a single line—which is a significantly more affordable price tag than the ones we've mentioned so far.
This plan gets even cheaper as you add lines, coming down to just $30.99/month when you add four. This makes Value Plus VL a great option if you’re also looking for a cheap multi-line plan on AT&T’s great network.
If money isn't an impediment in your choice of a 2-line plan from AT&T, we suggest taking a look at the carrier’s Unlimited Premium PL .
While Unlimited Premium PL is AT&T’s most expensive plan at $85.99/month for a single line, it comes down in price as you add them. Each line costs just $60.99/month, for example, when you add three, or $50.99/month when you add four.
Unlimited Premium PL is the only AT&T plan to include truly unlimited premium data, meaning you can stream, browse, or game to your heart's content without worrying about hitting any data ceilings or deprioritization. Better still, the plan includes a very generous 60GB high-speed mobile hotspot data allowance, along with unlimited talk, text, and high-speed data in 20 Latin American countries at no extra cost.
All of this makes Unlimited Premium PL one of the more feature-packed plans on the major carrier market. AT&T subscribers seem to understand this, as more people sign up for the plan (26.2%) than any of the carrier's other offerings.
Another great 2-line option from AT&T is the carrier's Unlimited Extra EL plan. It includes just enough perks (dedicated hotspot data, international usage privileges) to justify its $75.99/month price tag.
Unlimited Extra EL features 75GB of premium (i.e., un-deprioritized) data to use each month, along with 30GB of mobile hotspot data, and Mexico and Canada calling and texting. Better still, it includes the backing of the best combined 4G and 5G coverage in the country, meaning you can enjoy all of this in more places than any other cell phone carrier.
Not surprisingly, Unlimited Extra EL is the second-most popular AT&T plan in the carrier's stable, with about 26% of subscribers signing up for it on average.
